DUKE DHAMAKA 

Founded in 2003, Duke Dhamaka is Duke University's premier competitive bhangra team.  Dhamaka is a co-ed team open to all Duke students (undergrad/grad students, med school students, etc.). Dhamaka presents a high energy, traditional bhangra routine with its own modern flair. The team performs at various on-campus events and in the surrounding area with the purpose of increasing interest and raising awareness for Punjabi culture. Dhamaka also competes nationwide - including Bhangra Blowout, Aaj Ka Dhamaka, Virsa Punjab Da, Srujan, Bhangra Blitz, and Rangoli - and are a perennial favorite at on-campus performances like Awaaz (Duke's annual cultural show), Lunar New Year Festival, and even at the Duke/UNC basketball halftime show!
